In my previous post I mentioned that Content Marketing is key to reaching your audience, showcasing your expertise, attracting Joint-Venture partners and ranking your website in the search engines.
So in today’s post, I will share
8 Proven Content Marketing Types to Attract Your Ideal Clients Online
- Articles/Blog Posts: You can share content in the form of articles which you post on your blog at some kind of regular interval. This interval could be 1 to 3 times weekly. There are other opportunities to share your articles to increase your exposure and increase links to your website which is good for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Some of these opportunities are to share your articles on article marketing sites such as EzineArticles.com, SelfGrowth.com. If you perform a Google Search of article marketing websites you will find much more. You can also guest post on other industry related websites to your niche. For the most part, these websites will require unique content, meaning it has not been shared on your blog or any other website. In the case of EzineArticles.com and other article marketing website, you can change your article headline and tweak the content in the body of the article just a bit and repurpose it as a new article to post on that website.
- Videos: Sharing content through videos is a great way to connect with your market and give them a taste of your personality and expertise. This goes a long way to building a relationship and trust factor which helps you to reach your ideal clients. Top Video sharing websites to host your video are YouTube and Vimeo. Videos can be made using your phone, average mini-camera or tablet. Don’t worry too much about shooting home-made videos and not looking professional. The truth is that your prospective clients actually feel more of a connection to you when you don’t have that TV anchor look and set-up. Professional videos can be used when you are ready and able to make a big investment and want to produce more advanced videos for product launches, upcoming events and high-level coaching programs.
- Podcasts/Audios: Sharing content by audio is also quite popular. At the very minimum, audio content can be produced with a phone and a computer. There are also online conferencing companies that allow you to produce audio content by calling into a phone line and recording from your phone with the push of a button/code that they provide. From there you can upload to WordPress.org and embed the audio so anyone can listen anytime. You can also upload your audio to iTunes so people can listen in from there. However, I have found this process quite cumbersome personally.
The content for your Podcasts/Audios can be just you talking about a topic of interest to your audience and sharing best practices around it. Or you can interview industry experts and post the audio from your interview. - Social Media Updates: Sharing content via social media is also a form of content marketing. A couple of ways to do this:
– Take bite-sized tips from previously written articles and post them as status updates on your networks of choice
– Post the headline of your article with a link to the article on your blog on your network of choice - Online Radio Shows: BlogTalkRadio.com is the most popular platform for hosting an online radio show, but there are other platforms. Much like the Podcasts/Audios that you post on your blog, you can either do shows solo and discuss hot topics or you can interview industry experts. BlogTalkRadio.com also has features that allow you to embed the interview on your blog even though it is hosted at Blog Talk Radio. The point is though, you can cross-promote on both platforms, your blog and Blog Talk Radio.
- Teleseminars: This is another form of sharing by audio. However, this is best used when you are launching a new program or product. Basically, you give information on an area of frustration for your target audience or on something that will help them get a sought after solution. Towards the end of the call, you make a pitch about your new product or program. Most Teleseminar software programs allow your guests to pose questions by dialing into the conference line.
- Webinars: Webinars are closely related to Teleseminars in terms of the purpose of webinars. Typically used to promote your products or programs. Based on the Webinar Software that you use, you can showcase slides, much like you would show PowerPoint slides at an in-person presentation or workshop. Some Webinar Software providers have a feature where you can show a small video inset with you giving the presentation “live” along with your slides. This is more dynamic because your audience can see you and your slides/presentation at the same time. And there are even more features like being able to chat with other participants or the you, the host during the Webinar, plus features where you can type questions in a chat box or call in and ask questions during the webinar.
- Google Hangouts: Free platform by Google that allows you to communicate with your audience through streaming video. These can be hosted by you where you deliver your topic and have participants ask questions through a chat (text). You can also host Google Hangouts with a guest where video of yourself and your guest is shown. The video streams footage picked up through your computer’s webcam. If your content is not text-intensive where you will need to show slides and you think it would be suited to your audience, then this is a good way to go.
This list is still not exhaustive, but these are the most proven methods of sharing content with your audience as a strategy to get new clients. Not all of them will work all the time. A good content marketing strategy will involve a mix of the content types above at regular intervals or for specific purposes or events in your business.
